The smallest wooden church of Germany
The villages landmark is the smalles wodden chirch of Germany with the size of 5,0 m x 11,0m and 80 places to sit.
The church was build in a neo- Gothic framework style and you will find it in the village centre between very old oak trees. The induction tuck place in the year 1897 without a tower.
The forest open air bath
During the summer time you can enjoy close to the forest with your children the romantic bath with a separate water lily lake and restaurant.
Harz Mountains Steam Engine
An other attraction of Elend is the Harz steam engine that stops at the Elend station on the way to the highest mountain Brocken.
The nostalgic train you can use also to visit and enjoy the Harz region and mountains starting from Wernigerode up to Norhausen.
Village museum
A good impression about the village Elend you get during a visit of the small museum. We can show you typical regional hand tools, historical kitchen tools and sport devices, old documents, pictures and photos.
